ROYAL PALACE, SABATINI GARDENS AND ALMUDENA CATHEDRAL

Located less than 5 minutes away from the hotel (walking distance), these can be counted among the biggest and most magnificent architectonical masterpieces. The Royal Palace insides can be visited, and it’s not to be missed, since they contain several astonishing rooms as well as paintings from Goya or Velázquez among others.

Its privileged position makes this garden one of the most beautiful gardens of Madrid’s old town. The main fountain is surrounded by other fountains, trees and white marble statues. The red and organs tones of the sunset bathe the grey colours of the statues, giving them a special delicate beauty. You will not be able to miss this garden because is just next to the Royal Palace.

The Solemn changing of the Guard takes place every first Wednesday of the month at noon. On the other hand, the Royal change of guards takes place every Wednesday and Saturday from 11:00 to 14:00. Times may vary depending of the season and exceptional days.

ROYAL THEATRE

3 minutes on foot is the short distance that separates the theatre from our hotel. It is well known for its famous operas and events. Its construction was promoted by Fernando VII during a remodelling project of Plaza de Oriente. Yet, it was in 1850 during the kingdom of Isabel II that it was actually built.

Nowadays, the Royal Theatre is one of the most prestigious theatres of Europe.

MADRID DE LOS AUSTRIAS (OLD MADRID) AND MAYOR STREET

Located in between Puerta de Sol and the Royal Palace, it is one of the most touristic areas of the city centre. Its given name responds to its construction under the ruling of the House of the Austrias or Habsburgo.

In Mayor street, just 2 minutes away from the Hotel, you will find two important palaces. Duke of Uceda’s Palace or Congress Palace and Abrantes’ Palace. Nowadays, the latter holds the Italian Culture Institute, famous for the paints on the upper part of the building.

SHOPPING TIME!

10 minutes away from where we are is the commercial area, Gran Vía, Opera and Sol. Most of the area is pedestrian and full of life. Gran Vía is only 10 minutes away on foot and is one of the arteries of Madrid. Emblematic buildings with sculptures on top, restaurants and cafés, shops of all kind… not to be miss! It is commonly known as Madrid’s Broadway, because it holds some of the main and finest musicals in the world.

In order to really get a taste of Madrid, it is essential to walk around this big street.

ART OF MADRID

Madrid has some of the most important museums around the glob. They’re easily reachable from our hotel.

    In here you will find contemporary art, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí or Joan Miró..

    One of the most important art museums of the world. Velázquez, Goya, El Greco, Rembrandt, El Bosco or Rubens are some of the artists whose art pieces can be admired. Reachable on foot (20 minutes) or metro (2 stops).

MADRID AND ITS KITCHEN. TAPAS AND MARKETS!

Immerse a new world of tastes and sensations with our markets. San Miguel Market is just 4 minutes away from here. Even though this market keeps its old structure of iron dated from the XX century, it’s been recently renovated. The gastronomic offer is wide and pleasing for every palate.

There are other markets with special atmospheres that have been emerging in the past years.

La Latina is an area known for its tapas and terraces. Packed of restaurants and bars full of charm with a big gastronomic variety of tapas and Spanish typical dishes.

PARKS TO WALK, DREAM AND SPEND TIME

The Parque del Oeste is located in Plaza de España. It will surprise you, because it hides inside an Egyptian temple from the II B.C. Donated by the Egyptian government, this temple was rebuilt stone by stone and open to the public since 1972. The secret of this park is not just the temple but also the beautiful views to the west and south of Madrid.

Retiro Park is our little “Central Park”. Located in the centre of Madrid., this park has beautiful landscapes. It is also a common place to exercise, visit expositions and row in oits lakes’ little boats.
