Royal Palace, Sabatini Gardens and Almudena Cathedral

Located in less than 5 minutes walking, one of the biggest and magnificent architectonical masterpieces. The Royal Palace can be visited, during this visit you will not only enjoy the different rooms but also important art pieces from Goya or Velázquez.

Its privileged position, makes this garden one of the most beautiful gardens of Madrid’s old town. The main fountain is surrounded by other fountains, trees and marble statues. When the sun sets, the garden reaches its highest peak with its different reds and oranges representing the sun as it goes down. You will not be able to miss this garden because is just next to the Royal Palace.

The Solemn watch relief takes place every first Wednesday of every month at noon. Whereas the Royal change of guards takes place every Wednesday and Saturday from 11:00 to 14:00. There are some changes in the times depending of the season and exceptional days.

Royal Theatre

Only 3 minutes walking is the distance between the Royal Theatre and our Hotel. It is well known for its famous operas and events. Its construction was promoted by Fernando VII during a remodelling project of Plaza de Oriente. Yet it was in 1850 during the kingdom of Isabel II when it was actually built.
Nowadays the Royal Theatre is one of the most prestigious theatres of all Europe.

Madrid de los Austrias (Old Madrid) and Mayor Street

Is one of the most touristic areas of the city centre. Located in between Puerta del Sol and the Royal Palace. Is called like this because its construction was due mainly during the House of the Austrias or Habsburgo dynasty reign.
In Mayor street, just 2 minutes walking from the Hotel, you will find two important palaces. Duke of Uceda’s Palace or Congress Palace and Abrantes’ Palace. Nowadays this last palace holds the Italian Culture Institute. This building has its remarks in the paints on the superior part of the building. 

Shopping Time!

10 minutes away from where we are is the commercial area, Gran Vía, Opera and Sol. Most of the area is pedestrian and full of life and people.
Gran Vía is only 10 minutes away walking and is one of the arteries of Madrid. Emblematic buildings with sculptures on top, restaurants and cafes, shops from all kind, this is what is waiting for you, we recommend not to miss it. Today is known as Madrid’s Broadway, because it holds the highest number of shows that arrives to the theatres.
In order to really get to know Madrid is essential to walk around this big street.

Art of Madrid

Madrid has some of the most important museums around the globe and that you should not miss. You can easily walk from our Hotel to the different museums.

  • Reina Sofia Museum:
    In here you will find contemporary art, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí or Joan Miró..
  • Prado Museum:
    One of the most important art museums of the world. Velázquez, Goya, El Greco, Rembrandt, El Bosco or Rubens are some of the most well known artists of the museum. Located only 25 minutes walking or 2 stations away from us.
  • Thyssen/Bornemisza:
    During 2 generations, this family has been collecting more than 800 pieces of art and that we can enjoy here in Madrid.

Madrid and its kitchen. Tapas and markets!

Get inside a new world of tastes and sensations with the markets. San Miguel Market is just 4 minutes walking. Even though this market still has the old structure of iron dated in the XX century, it has been renovated. The gastronomic offer has a great variety from which to choose and get delighted. There are other markets with special atmospheres that have been emerging in the past years.

La Latina is an area known for its tapas and terraces. Packed of restaurants and bars full of charm with a big gastronomic variety of tapas and Spanish typical dishes.

Parks to walk, dream and spend time

The West Park is located in Plaza de España. It will surprise you, because it hides inside an Egyptian temple from the II A.C. Donated by the Egyptian government, rebuilt stone by stone and open to the public since 1972. The secret of this park is not just the temple but as well the beautiful views to the west and south of Madrid.


Retiro park

Retiro Park is our little Madrid’s “Central Park”. Located in the centre of Madrid. This park has beautiful landscapes. It is also the elected park of Madrid’s habitants to do sports, see expositions and even spend time rowing, as there is a big lake in the park.
